A family team tries to get the tent pole to go down... |
Getting your group to work together to lower a tent pole to the floor sounds easy, right? As the family teams discovered at Back to School Night, it's not as straightforward as it seems!
Tent Pole Control was one of five games that families enjoyed in the gym at Back to School Night, August 29, 2013. The evening began with a hotdog supper, made much better by the delicious sides and desserts families brought to share. A brief business meeting featured the introduction of new teachers: Carrie Euler for 3rd and 4th grades, and Pete Hoppen for 5th and 6th in the elementary; and Jordan Euler (yes, he and Carrie go together) in secondary English, math, and Ekklesia Mountain High instructing.

Trying to put all the Presidents in order... |
Following the business session, it was off to the games, where all who wanted to play were divided into teams to rotate around the gym to five different game stations. This year all the teams adopted sports team names, so we had the Cowboys, Tigers, Steelers, and Pirates competing. Teams received final scores based on their time to complete each game: winner for the evening with a lowest total time score of 7:54 were the Steelers!

Everyone on the team has to make a basket! |
Games were followed by a time to visit with teachers in classrooms. With food, good fellowship, some fun together, and a chance to visit with teachers, Back to School Night was a great way to bring DPCA families together to launch a new school year. We extend thanks to the DPCA staff for cooking, managing games, serving, and cleaning up - thanks, team, for making a good evening come together!
